Tanning Care

To achieve the best possible results from your spray tan, it's important to follow these detailed preparation steps

  • Schedule Other Services in Advance

Make sure to complete all other beauty treatments, such as manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, eyelash extensions, and Botox, at least 24 hours before your spray tan appointment. This includes any other cosmetic procedures that might affect the outcome of your tan. For waxing, it is recommended to schedule it at least 48 hours prior to your tan. This ensures that your skin is in optimal condition for the spray tan and avoids any potential interference with the tan application.

  • Proper Skin Preparation

For the best tan results, it is essential to prepare your skin correctly. Shower, shave, and exfoliate the night before your appointment, rather than right before. Exfoliation is particularly important as it removes dead skin cells and creates a smooth surface, allowing for an even and flawless tan. Skipping this step could lead to uneven color or patchiness.

  • Avoid Applying Products

On the day of your spray tan session, refrain from using any lotions, deodorants, makeup, or other products on your skin. These products can create barriers that prevent the tan from adhering properly and can lead to an uneven finish. Make sure your skin is clean and free of any residues before your appointment.

  • Dress Appropriately for Your Appointment

Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing to your spray tan appointment. This includes long pants, a baggy shirt, and comfortable, loose shoes or flip-flops. Avoid wearing jeans, leggings, dresses, or shorts, as tight or restrictive clothing can affect the application of the tan and may result in streaks or uneven areas.

  • Choose the Right Soap

If you typically use Dove soap, it's best to switch to a different brand before your tan. Dove soap can leave a residue that interferes with the tanning process. Similarly, avoid using Olay body wash, bar soaps, or any products that contain oils, as these can also create barriers and impact the quality of your tan.

By carefully following these preparation guidelines, you'll help ensure that your spray tan develops evenly and looks its absolute best.

Please be aware that a small percentage of individuals may experience less favorable reactions to spray tans. Factors that could affect the outcome include severely dry skin, recent use of retinol or skin resurfacing products, Accutane, or recent sunburn. To minimize potential issues, we recommend discontinuing these products at least 7 days before your session.
